King’s College London Arts & Humanities Festival

To mark its residency at King’s College, The Opera Group performs a mini opera and a song cycle written by composers at the outset of their careers.  King Harald’s Saga (1979),  written by a then 26 year old Judith Weir is a witty account of the Norwegian invasion of Britain in 1066.  Young composer Charlotte Bray‘s Midnight Closes (2010) is three short settings of Thomas Hardy poems.  Both works are sung by Rhona McKail, who appeared earlier this year in Seven Angels.

The performance takes place Monday 24 October, 6.30pm in the Great Hall at King’s College London and is open to the public. Ticketing information will soon be available for the King’s College website.
