Composer Julian Phillips (pictured) and librettist Simon Christmas are working on a new seven-minute street opera, Save the Diva, which will visit five cities this summer. Commissioned by The Opera Group, in partnership with Friends of the Earth and the European Commission Representation in the UK), the opera will be performed guerilla-style in various locations throughout the day in Cardiff (7 May), Birmingham (4 June), Brighton (12 June), Glasgow (18 June) and London (13 July). We’ll share information on times and locations with you soon.
The aims of the opera are to heighten local awareness of Friends of the Earth and, of course, to take opera to the people!
