I saw Weir’s Blond Eckbert at the Cheltenham Festival last July.  I’ve had the CD of the original version written for Channel 4 (those were the days!) since mid 90’s. I found the Opera Group’s pared-down chamber-arrangement extremely fitting for this work, and the overall effect in the small theatre was intimate and concentrated. Great stuff!
